Scholes WI is similar to Slaithwaite WI in terms of how established they are as they were opened around the same time and will soon be celebrating their 30th year of being open as an institute. This WI was the home of Eileen Meadmore, who was one of the founding members of the West Yorkshire Federation. Scholes WI is based in Leeds and is a very active group within their community. In 2011, Scholes WI had their Annual Meeting with a Turkey & Tinsel meal along with a theatre trip to see Top Hat. For their Christmas meeting in December they had speaker Ken Humphreys presenting Words and Music at Christmas. Throughout the year they have various activities going on in the village of Scholes such as a WI garden, Scholes in Bloom, summer outings and a stall at their Annual Village Gala. In 2012, Scholes are having many talks from the National Trust and the Red Kites of Yorkshire along with a workshop on Cupcake Decorating.
