A Few Lovely Days in August!

The first event of the month was Ladies Race Day at Pontefract Racecourse on the 3rd of August. The weather was perfect for the whole day with lots of sunshine to sit under while watching the races. Through out the day, there was lots of betting an some small wins. We are glad that they had such a successful day!

Also this month we have had two of the same event because it was so popular. This was Through the Garden Gate, which were both full on the day. The members attending had a full day of sewing and fun with their garden gate pieces, creating a resemblence of a garden gate with a beautiful patchwork picture behind it.

Bye for now x

What's Coming Up Over The Next Couple Of Weeks?

This week we are going to tell you what is coming up over the next couple of weeks, as you may have noticed that we changed the Coming Up page to our Diary for 2011.
So, firstly this month we have Ladies Race Day. This is a being held on Wednesday 3rd August at Pontefract Racecourse, where our attending members will have paid £27.00 or £27.50 if they were a non-member and will be able to take part in the Race Day by entering through the Grandstand & Paddock Enclousure, the dish of the day from the Paddock Restuarant, drinks vouchers and a racecard for the racing through out the day.
Also this month we have two Through the Garden Gate Workshops. The first is on Monday 8th August and the second is on Friday 19th August. The workshops have shown to be very popular as they are full for both dates. This workshop is an all day session consisting of the instructions and the beginning elements of making the piece in the morning and through the afternoon getting a good amount of your piece done. The point of the workhop is to make a piece of patchwork that looks like there is an iron gate or fence in front of the fabric.

Check back in a few weeks to see the photographs from these workshops.

Also for this month we have just put on our recipes and book.
The recipes are quick and easy Summer recipes consisting of a Prawn Cocktail, a Pasta Salad and a Rocky Road Bar.
We hope you enjoy them!

The book for this month is named The Lantern and is from an upcoming author named Deborah Lawrenson. This book is about a boy and girl, who move into an abandoned house and the boy is obsessed about solving the mysteries of the house, as he thinks that his first wife, who disappeared, had something to do with it.

Bye for now! x
