Second Month Of Japanese Patchwork!

On the 21st February, our members took part in the second month of the Japanese Patchwork course.
This month they really enjoyed creating the Windmill Variation and the 5 Pine Bark Diamonds. Apologises for the last post on the Japanese Patchwork as I said it was Lyo Parent and Child, which is next months.
This is what the members were aiming to create.

Here are some photographs of the members taking part and their own adaptation of the blocks they were creating on Friday.

The blocks for next months Japanese Patchwork will be Lyo Parent & Child and Knot.

Personalised Bunting!

Event - Personalised Bunting
Committee - Home Economics and Handicraft
Date - 8th February
Venue - Federation Office, LS13 1HP

On 8th February, Maureen Hancox of Cookridge Crumpets WI taught 9 members how to create there own personal bunting. This day seemed to be a great success for our new tutor as all the participants gave the workshop 5* and really seemed to enjoy the day as well as the socialising.

In the class, the members had to prepare their templates and plan their bunting before cutting out their fabric. During the class they learnt the skill of appliqué as well as using the sewing machine for curves and corners by using the satin stitch setting.

The members had a lot of great things to say about the workshop!
