Our first Campaigns & Current Affairs event was a great success despite the snowy conditions.  Many members travelled to Rodley and enjoyed an interesting and informative day.

Our first speaker Dr. Elaine James addressed the need to be responsible for our own health and to follow up any worrying symptoms that persist for more than 3 weeks.

Professor David Sebag Montifiore gave us a fascinating insight into his research into treating cancer with radiotherapy and the advances using modern technology.

After a superb lunch provided by Mary Phillips and her team, Lynne Cowling a Sue Ryder Specialist Community Support Nurse shared her passion for her work in supporting Cancer sufferers and their relatives and friends.

WI member Christine Meredith then gave a short talk about being a Cancer survivor of over 20 years.

The overall message from the day was not to be afraid to follow up health concerns quickly and not to be afraid to talk to your GP if symptoms persist.
